Contra Gentiles

The Jews are the exemplary humans, because everywhere seen as from elsewhere. It is humanity, and not nations, that is autochthonous. The human and the chthonic share a word-root. Both mean “of earth,” as does the Hebrew Adam, the name of the first man.
