Torah and Chance

Previously, whether you succeeded or failed, it was attributable to the gods, who were a chancy bet, but to whom you had to have recourse. Now, if you succeeded, it was attributable to God, but if you failed, it was attributable to you, on account of your sins, for which you needed to repent, if you wished to win back His favor. The burden of responsibility is entirely shifted.
