Western Civilization

Western civilization comes from the East. Greece and Rome are in southeastern Europe, where the people are dark-haired and swarthy. They would have been kept out of America by 1924 anti-immigration laws designed to keep out the foreign hordes. Jesus was a Jew, and so among those targeted, as well.

Western Europeans who smashed statuary in Roman Catholic churches on the grounds of idolatry could be compared, in their attitude towards cultural artifacts, to the Taliban religious enthusiasts who blew up the Bamiyan Buddhas. Simplicity is a virtue, but simple-mindedness is not to be put on a pedestal and worshiped.
