The “Ticking Bomb” Case

The law is general; the case is particular. You need wise judges to decide cases at the limit of the law, just as you need wise people to act under circumstances in the manner they call for. You can’t legislate wisdom. The “ticking bomb” case is nothing but a litmus test for one’s personal politics, and so beneath consideration as a serious philosophical question.
